MATIA - Karrakatta Club Opening Literary Lyceum 2026

I was so honoured to speak at the first of the 2026 Literary Lyceums at the Karrakatta Club on Tuesday 3 February 2026. Thank you to Marina Valmadre and Anita Clayton for inviting me to give a presentation about Matia and my multi-generational inspiration and journey behind the novel. I really enjoyed engaging with this wonderful group, answering insightful questions and sharing ideas and stories. 

The Karrakatta Club was founded in 1894 and is Australia’s oldest club for women. Its members are committed to women’s empowerment and social justice for women, children and families. The club's motto, which was suggested by Edith Cowan (a founding member) is Spectemur Agendo, which means "let us be judged by our actions”.
